Keeping connections connected
10Jul
While there is always plenty of hype around wireless, most engineers are quite happy with a good old-fashioned copper cable. There is no need to configure any settings to use it, there is a satisfying click as the connector’s locking tab catches, and testing is easy.
Furthermore, it’s simply impossible to continuity-test a WiFi link! Wired connections remain popular across a host of applications. This is despite copper prices rising more than six-fold over the past two decades. Cables installed in conduit or cable trays can typically be relied upon until decommissioning, especially if they remain untouched.
If connectivity does become an issue, the problem is most likely to be found at the wall sockets and plates, where the wires connect with the socket.
