Automation engineering in harsh environments
01Nov
Even with a robust enclosure, renewable energy systems must be able to withstand variations in temperature, air quality, and potentially operate either at high altitudes or at the bottom of the ocean under extreme pressure.
Global events have made it clear that the UK needs to accelerate its roll-out of renewable energy sources rapidly, in order to reduce bills, improve energy security, and make progress on the road to net zero.
However, it is not as simple as simply installing more solar panels and wind turbines, as these assets also require complex automation infrastructure, in order to function properly. Many renewables are, by their nature, in hard-to-reach locations, where conditions can be difficult. This makes installing effective automation systems, and ensuring that they run without fail, something of a challenge.
