PTV side entry terminals: A new approach to terminal blocks
05Mar
It’s easy to underestimate the innovation potential of the humble DIN rail terminal block. Many of us have a ‘go-to’ block/brand because we are happy, or at least satisfied, with what it gives us. This leaves us free to focus on far more pressing technical issues in the more complex areas of our panel or machine.
The screw terminal has proven massively popular over the years because of its simplicity of concept, straightforward termination, and wide market acceptance. In more recent years, a young contender to the screw crown has been the advent of the ‘push-in’ terminal. Many customers choose push-in because its speed of termination, one-handed operation and resistance to the influence of vibration, etc.
The push-in connection with the orange push button has become established in almost all areas of industrial connection technology. Against this backdrop, Phoenix Contact has spent the past 10 years systematically extending its range of PT (push-in technology) terminal blocks. There are now billions of these small push buttons installed in electromechanical and electronic components in control cabinets around the world.
Phoenix Contact has taken the best features of both these termination technologies (screw and push in) and combined them into one terminal: the PTV terminal.
