Northern Manufacturing & Electronics, the Northern partner event to the long-running Southern Manufacturing & Electronics Show, returns to EventCity, Manchester from October 2nd to 3rd. Manufacturing in the North West contributes the greatest proportion of gross GVA of any region in the UK. Alongside a burgeoning aerospace and automotive sector, process industries such as pharmabio and food & beverage also have a substantial presence. The pharmabio industry alone in the North West accounts for nearly 19% of the region’s total economic output.
Against this backdrop, the show provides the ideal marketplace for system integrators and panel builders servicing these and other industries. Moreover, while overall manufacturing activity is expected to remain somewhat muted while uncertainty over Brexit hangs in the air, the drive towards Industry 4.0 and reducing costs through greater automation remains strong and continues to provide a great many opportunities for integrators and related activities.
On average, around 40% of visitors come in search of electronic and electrical components. Visitors to the 2019 show will have plenty to occupy their attention. Highlights for 2019 include membrane keyboards from Calman Technology, TFT LCD displays from Crystal-Tech Electronics, pressure sensors and transducers from ESI Technology and power supplies from Luso Electronics. There’s also ruggedised connectors from Fischer Connectors, tough enclosures from Extreme Cases, specialist sensors and machine vision components from Keyence UK. Bespoke component makers include Protool Plastics, Peli Products (UK), J Coker (Rubber) and Whitehorse Plastics.
