The Southern Manufacturing Show 2015 gave Harwin the opportunity to exhibit the latest addition to the company’s high-reliability connector family; the M300 durable, hi-rel power connector. Designed for rugged environments, the connector can operate in temperatures between -65 and +175°C and featues twice the mating operations than the company’s older generations. With a 3mm pitch, the M300 can handle currents up to 10A, making it ideal for applications involving industrial, oil & gas, satellites, defence and commercial aircraft. The M300 family is made from environmentally friendly material and is easy to fit.
Harwin’s second launch, the EZ-Shield Can kit is designed to provide EMC protection to sensitive electronics. The kit is simply fitted over surface-mounted EZ-Shield clips. This provides a low cost, easy to use alternative for EMC protection. The kit comes with two shield can sheets, 24 RFI Shield Can clips and an instruction sheet. The two nickel silver sheets provided are pre-scribed on a 5mm grid, making it simple for engineers to cut out and create their own EZ-Shield Cans to specific requirements.
Ben Green, technical and marketing manager, Harwin said that the company has a history designing EMC products and understands the market for Shield Cans and similar products. However, Harwin’s DIY kit expands the offering that other companies provide, the clip itself is a non-solder product which makes the process of protecting sensitive electronics easier and cheaper. With its ease of use, the kit will also appeal to the maker community, offering it an off the shelf education tool for simple and fast prototyping.
