New ‘Magic Box 100’ enclosure systems

Protecting circuitry, electrical connections, wiring for displays, manual switch gear, sensors and breakers are the basic functions of an electrical enclosure, but if enough consideration has not been given to the protection rating of the enclosure, the difference between a junction box that meets cost pressure and a well specified unit that offers total protection requirements would ultimately result in a failed installation; essentially due to moisture ingress, condensation or dust build up; and that could happen, even in a relatively normal working environment.
But if your installation has to be positioned underwater or in an environment where sea spray, moisture, soil or dust are prevalent, there’s no question that your enclosure needs to be of the highest IP rating.
However, GH Lucas claims to have overcome this problem, by making available in the UK the Innovative ‘Magic Box 100’, which for many applications negates the need to specify costly, high IP rated enclosures.
The new ‘Magic Box 100’ system comprises a standard 100m x 100m x 50m box, complete with multi-choice knock-outs, ready to pour gel, glands and stopping plugs that offer contractors a truly universal, multi-purpose IP68 box that has until now not been available as a ready-to-use kit.
Typical installations of these boxes are directly buried, in ducts or traps, fully submerged at any depth (e.g. submersible pumps), directly exposed to UV and weather agents, in tunnels or at the base of columns for street lighting, bollards and traffic signals.
So, to sum up, these new innovative gel filled ‘Magic Box 100’s’ are suitable for use on applications that are intended for full submersion; they are totally re-enterable, offer ‘an unlimited shelf life, they are totally non toxic, they only take only ten minutes to cure, they comply fully with RoHS, COSHH and WEE. They are REACH compliant, and offer greater than IP68 ingress protection (tested to a depth of 100 metres).
